ISLAND Financial Solutions (IFS) has appointed Bryan O’Connor to head up a specialist new General Insurance Division.
In his role as insurance manager, Mr O’Connor will be looking to develop bespoke programmes for companies and organisations across the Isle of Man that are dependent upon all types of commercial insurance, such as public liability and professional indemnity.
Bringing considerable commercial insurance expertise with him, Bryan O’Connor will focus on fostering new and existing business links with commercial property owners, trust companies and corporate service providers, especially with interests in the marine and aviation fields.
The aim is also to forge close ties with other niche industries on the Island, such as eCommerce and eGaming. The new IFS division will also deal with personal household and motor insurance cover.
Manxman Bryan O’Connor began his career in 2000 at Scottish Provident International, latterly Royal London 360, where he became a Relationship Manager. For the past two and a half years he has been with Marsh (Isle of Man) Ltd, leading the client adviser team with particular focus on professional indemnity along with marine and commercial property sectors.
He is an Associate of the Chartered Investment & Securities Institute, holds the Certificate in Insurance and is currently working towards Chartered Insurer status with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

He is also one of the only insurance professionals on the Isle of Man to hold the London Market Certificate.
IFS director Steve Groom said Bryan’s appointment heralds a significant new chapter for the company. “Whilst we have established our reputation as independent financial advisors over a number of years, our aim is now also to become one of the Isle of Man’s leading commercial insurers.
“Bryan will be a major asset for IFS. He is a great communicator, very experienced and extremely well known within the Island’s general commercial insurance industry.”
