The United Kingdom business secretary's proposals to limit executive pay have been branded 'hot air' by a union representative in the Isle of Man.
Vince Cable told the Liberal Democrat party conference 'payouts for failure' must end, adding that executive's remuneration has lost any connection with the value of shares, let alone average employee pay.
He also suggested employees should have a say in the remuneration their bosses received.
But president of the Isle of Man's Trades Council Angela Moffatt thinks Mr Cable was merely playing to the crowd:
