Water leak located but residents face another six hours of disruption

by isleofman.com 19th September 2011

ENGINEERS have located the leak which is causing an interruption to the water supply in Farmhill, Anagh Coar, Glen Vine and Crosby.

The Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority has confirmed that the leak is on the 400mm diameter water main within the Snugborough Trading Estate.

In a statement released this afternoon the authority said: "It is anticipated it will take another six hours to complete the repairs to the pipeline.

"Water has been temporarily been diverted through other smaller diameter mains to supply properties in the Farmhill, Anagh Coar, Glen Vine and Crosby areas, but at a much reduced pressure.

"Customers who experience discoloured water are advised to run the cold water tap, located in the kitchen, until the water runs clear."

Bowers of water have been placed on the Peel Road at Crosby, the Horse and Plough car park and Ballacottier and Marown primary schools. The public have been advised to boil any water taken from this supply.

For further information please contact the Water and Sewerage Authority’s customer services department on 01624 695949.
