Ballacottier School to close early after water supply problems

by isleofman.com 19th September 2011

BALLACOTTIER Primary School is being closed early today (Monday) due to problems with its water supply.

As a result of a burst water main in the area the school has faced problems with an intermittent water supply.

Within the school this is causing a number of problems including the lack of flushing toilets. After consulting with public health officials it has been decided that the school should close early.

Parents have been asked to collect their children from the school as soon as possible. To aid the school with this process they are asked to go to the school office rather than to individual classrooms.

Reducing the number of pupils in school will make it easier to provide suitable facilities for those who remain in school until parents collect them at normal time.

The Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority has been working closely with the school all day and has recently been able to restore a low-pressure water supply but it will take several hours to refill the header tanks and restore full supplies.

Ballacottier Primary School should reopen as normal tomorrow.
