Celebrity chefs reveal recipes ahead of Food and Drink Festival

CELEBRITY chef James Martin will cook eight dishes at this weekend's Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival.

 

The chef, who presents Saturday Kitchen on BBC One, will give two cookery demonstrations on Sunday and will also judge the finals of the I Love Manx Professional Chef competition.

 

He will cook the following dishes in the Manx Food Theatre:


- Kipper Pate
Deep fried egg with bacon and frisee salad
- Pan fried Queenies with sweet chilli jam
- Roast loin of lamb with pumpkin pickle
- Road fillet of pork with pumpkin and apple pickle
- Crispy Manx pork tenderloin with braised chicory and fennel salad
Cheat’s strawberry gateau
- Chocolate pud


All of the dishes will be cooked using local produce wherever possible and have been chosen to showcase the range and quality of locally produced dairy, meat, vegetables, seafood, oil and more.


Masterchef semi-finalist Stacie Stewart, who is also visiting for the festival, will give two cookery demonstrations on Saturday and will also judge the finals of the I Love Manx Family Chef competition.


She will cook the following four dishes in the Manx Food Theatre:


- Pan fried Manx beef with a beetroot and horseradish puree and rocket salad
- Manx lobster with a Thai dipping sauce and crunchy noodle salad
- Risotto of pan fried Queenies with a crisp black pudding and poached egg
- Stacie's trifle 


A number of local producers will also be unveiling new products at the festival including the first Manx Cider and a new selection of Manx Knobs. For more information click here. There will also be activities which the whole family can enjoy including face painting, food inspired games, touch tanks filled with marine creatures and the chance to watch butter being made.


The Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival takes place in the Nunnery Gardens in Douglas on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25. It is open from 10am and last admission at 4pm. It costs £3 per person for a day or £5 for a weekend ticket. There is no charge for children under 16 or for car parking.
