POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision that shut the A2 in Onchan for three and a half hours last night (Thursday).

The collision, involving a red Ford Focus, happened between the Liverpool Arms and the Whitebridge at around 9.30pm.

The car was being driven by a 19 year old male and carrying a 21 year old passenger.

Police officers would like to speak to a vehicle that is believed to have been travelling immediately in front of the Focus at the time of the incident.

No one was injured in the collision but police say there was lots of damage and closed Whitebridge Hill while they conducted enquiries.

Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision is asked to contact PC David Baker at Lord Street Police Station on 01624 631212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
