by isleofman.com 14th September 2011

A DOG had to be rescued by firefighters from a smoke logged property in Douglas this afternoon (Wednesday).

Fire crews were called to a property in Willaston Crescent at 2.40pm to reports of smoke issuing from the house.

On arrival firefighters wearing breathing apparatus broke into the property to find a pan had overheated on the stove and smoke logged the entire property.

It took firefighters around 20 minutes to remove the burnt pan and its contents and also rescued a dog which fortunately appeared to be unharmed.

The public have been reminded to ensure cooking materials are not left unattended and that appliances are turned off before leaving home.
