Paddy's Fish of the Week - Sea Bream Fillet

by isleofman.com 13th September 2011

THIS week Paddy's has chosen sea bream fillet as the Fish of the Week.

All about sea bream…

The most popular and highly regarded variety is the gilthead bream (also known as royal bream). According to Greek mythology gilthead bream was considered sacred to Aphrodite the goddess of love.

Sea bream has bright silvery skin with hints of pink and gold and giltheads are successfully farmed in the Mediterranean giving year round availability.

With its pinkish opaque flesh the popularity of gilthead bream continues to grow as a slightly sweeter tasting alternative to sea bass and it can be cooked in the same way as bass and other breams.

To cook sea bream simply…

Sea bream fillets are delicious baked, grilled or braised. The fish goes especially well with garlic and herb butter or tarragon and lemon butter. Or why not try en-papillote with Paddy’s seal and cook bags?

If you would like any tips or advice on cooking sea bream visit the Paddy's fish counter in Shoprite, Victoria Road in Douglas.

Until Sunday, September 18, sea bream fillets will be £8.52 per lb. There will also be a sampling session at the Paddy's counter this Saturday.
