MARKETERS in the Isle of Man have been invited to celebrate the centenary birthday of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
A special networking event to mark the occasion is being held at The Mailbox in Douglas on Thursday, September 22.
Gavin Smith, chair of the Isle of Man Branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) said: "CIM Isle of Man is more renowned for running professional development events, courses and qualifications but we thought that with the institute having reached the impressive landmark of being 100 years old, it would be nice to celebrate by arranging an informal get-together for the Island's marketers.
"We continue to work hard locally to raise the profile of both CIM and marketing as a profession as well as continuing to provide the Island's marketers with the tools and skills they need both now and in the future.
"The birthday bash is a great opportunity for those who are new to marketing to come along, find out more and network - as well as letting more seasoned professionals catch up with friends and colleagues. If you're involved in or interested in marketing please come along - it promises to be a great night."
The Chartered Institute of Marketing was founded on May 16, 1911, when 12 individuals met at the Inns of Court Hotel in London and created a new professional association – the Sales Managers' Association. The name changed to the Institute of Marketing and Sales Management in 1961 and again in 1968 to become The Institute of Marketing. The name changed to its current form in 1989 when Her Majesty the Queen awarded the Institute a Royal Charter.
The centenary birthday party is free to attend and has been sponsored by Bridson and Horrox, Isle of Man Advertising and PR and yourwebvideo.com. Pre- booking is required and this can be done by visiting the CIM website www.cim.co.uk, e-mailing cimevents@cim.co.uk or telephoning 01628 427340.
