Lifting of blood donor ban is welcomed

Isle of Man gay rights campaigners have welcomed the UK's decision to let gay men give blood.

The Manx Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender group says it's now time for the Island to follow suit.

Restrictions were put in place in the 80s to prevent the risk of AIDS contamination.

But from November, gay and bisexual men who've abstained from sex for 12 months will be able to donate blood.

Acting chairman Ryan Kelly hopes the Island's new government doesn't drag its heels:
