Celton Manx supports high profile Douglas events

by isleofman.com 9th September 2011

CELTON Manx and Douglas Borough Council are teaming up to host two high profile events in the Island's capital.

The company will sponsor the Douglas fireworks display, which will take place on November 5, and the Christmas lights ceremony on November 24.

Each year hundreds of people join together to watch the traditional Bonfire Night display which is organised by the Douglas Borough Council. This year due to the tides the firework display will be set off from a barge in the bay.

The Douglas Christmas lights ceremony is always a colourful affair with pantomime characters, singing and dancing, a lantern parade and a snow machine before the all-important switching on of the Christmas lights by the Mayor of Douglas to really get everyone in the festive spirit.

Bill Mummery, executive director of Celton Manx, said: "It is fantastic to be involved with two of the most anticipated events in the Douglas community calendar.

"We are moving into our new global headquarters at the Isle of Man Business Park in September and although we will be sad to leave Castletown we are excited to be moving to our new home in Douglas.

"We are dedicated to supporting the community in which we operate and the support of these Douglas Borough Council events is a great way for us to celebrate our relocation."

Douglas Borough Council Leader Councillor David Christian said: "We are delighted to be welcoming Celton Manx as the main sponsor for these two headline events.

"The fireworks and Christmas lights ceremony are stalwarts in the Douglas events calendar and we are very much looking forward to working with Celton Manx on planning the events over the coming months."
