THE Claremont Hotel in Douglas has revealed record occupancy figures for the summer of this year.
Compared to the figures for the same period in 2010 the hotel has seen a 24 per cent increase in occupied rooms in July and a 42 per cent increase in occupied rooms in August.
The hotel is also predicting a 26 per cent increase in occupancy this month.
Mark Wilson, managing director for Sleepwell Hotels owners of the hotel, said: "It's fantastic to see such a rapid increase of sales following the recent investment in the hotel.
"The figures truly speak for themselves - the new four star Claremont has now established itself as a leading business hotel on the Island. In the last few years there has been lots of talk on the Island regarding potential new hotel investments whereas, at the Claremont, we have put our money where our mouth is and we’re reaping the benefits already.
"Obviously we expect to see the normal decline of room occupancies over the winter months but even allowing for the usual seasonal fluctuation our forward bookings are significantly higher than previous years.
"We will continue to make bold investments as part of our ongoing mission for The Claremont to be the Isle of Man hotel of choice."
The hotel underwent a one million pound refurbishment project in November last year and is currently planning a second phase of refurbishment which will include the refurbishment of the ground floor lounge and reception areas. Work on this is scheduled to begin later this year.
