Cameras in court could 'increase transparency'

The possibility of television cameras being allowed into courtrooms in the Isle of Man has been raised, after plans in the United Kingdom received the backing of Prime Minister David Cameron.

Local advocate John Wright says there are many misconceptions about how the legal system works, and the move could be seen as increasing transparency.

If the proposal was to go ahead in the UK, the Island wouldn't be affected unless the law here was changed as well, and Mr Wright is concerned that allowing the filming of just the sentencing could provide an unbalanced view:
