UNEMPLOYMENT in the Isle of Man fell below two per cent during August.
Figures show that there were 830 people unemployed in the Island – a rate of 1.9 per cent.
During the month 203 people signed on and 263 people signed off.
Of the total number of unemployed 590 were male and 240 were female.
There were small improvements across nearly all areas of the economy – notably in the catering and entertainment sectors.
However half of the reduction is accounted for by individuals who have moved away from jobseekers allowance and onto other benefits.
A total of 500 vacancies were notified to the Job Centre during the month – 227 positions were still on file by the end of the month.
