THE Isle of Man will feature in a cookery series due to be broadcast on the Franco-German TV network ARTE next year.
Fishmonger Tim Croft, of Paddy's in Port St Mary, was recently visited by international TV chef Sarah Wiener who is undertaking a tour of the British Isles in her open top car as part of her latest television series, The Culinary Adventures of Sarah Wiener.
Sarah - who is a household name in Austria and Germany and has restaurants in Berlin - was treated to a delicious dish of king scallops with apple puree and black pudding served with samphire and finished with a calvados sauce.
It was cooked by Tim at the kitchen in Paddy's.
The king scallops used in the recipe were dive caught off the coast of Port St Mary and special permission had to be granted by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture to Michelle Haywood of Discover Diving to land them during the closed season.
Tim said: "It was a fun experience cooking in front of the camera and great for the profile of Manx seafood and the Paddy's name around the world.
"The crew really enjoyed their filming around Port St Mary and we were luckily blessed with fine weather."
The Isle of Man episode sees Sarah tour around the Island in order to source the various ingredients used in the recipe - which included a visit to Apple Orphanage and Radcliffe the butchers - before she cooks up her own take of the scallop recipe and serves it in front of a local panel on the quayside in Port St Mary.
The 10-part series featuring the Isle of Man will be broadcast next summer.
