Public access to reservoirs could be restricted due to dog fouling

by isleofman.com 6th September 2011

RESERVOIRS around the Isle of Man may be closed to the public following a number of incidents of dog fouling.

The Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority has issued a warning to all residents to keep their animals under control or face losing access to the areas.

A spokesperson for the authority said: "If the current practice of allowing dogs to foul land adjacent to the reservoirs, or of allowing dogs to swim in the reservoirs, is not ceased with immediate effect, the authority will have no alternative other than to close its reservoirs to public access."

The authority says it is committed to promoting reasonable access to its reservoirs for the enjoyment and recreation of the public but will take action if the quality of its essential raw water resource is compromised in any way.
