Film festival reaches climax

This evening (Saturday) sees the finale of the outdoor cinema experience 'Under the Stars'.

The climax of the 2011 Isle of Man film festival, run by the Arts Council, is a screening of the 2009 production 'Sherlock Holmes' starring Robert Downey Junior.

Budding local directors also get the chance to shine this afternoon, with the showcase and presentation of the Young Filmmaker of Mann and Short Film competitions.

Arts development manager Emma Callin says the contest attracts a vast array of entries, with different approaches (listen to audio file below):

The award ceremony is at the Manx Museum from 3pm, with the 'Under the Stars' screening at the Nunnery at 8.30pm.
