Was missing car “stolen to order”?

by isleofman.com 1st September 2011

POLICE are searching for a rare vehicle which has been stolen from an address in Douglas. It is possible the vehicle may have been “stolen to order” for a collector.

The car is a red Renault 5GT which was stolen from a car park on Central Promenade, Douglas in the middle of last week, some time between Wednesday 24 and Friday 26.

Police describe the car as “distinctive” and “very rare”. They say there are believed to be only a very few vehicles of this type registered in the Isle of Man.

It is also known that the car would have had to be towed away as it was not able to start the engine. Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen a vehicle being towed away at the time of the theft, or from anyone who may have been offered the car.

Pc Jenette Martin is dealing with the case on 631212.
