Candidate wants information on abrogation

by isleofman.com 27th August 2011

A general election candidate in Peel wants the Isle of Man to find out exactly what abrogation would mean.

Businessman Arran Kaighin, 43, believes the government should have seriously considered its options after the VAT agreement with the United Kingdom was renegotiated for the first time.

Mr Kaighin doesn't believe anyone has really worked out what could be put in place to keep ties with the UK and elsewhere, while allowing the Island to have more independence.

He says that should have been done straight away (listen to audio file below):

The other candidates who have declared in Peel so far are outgoing MHK Tim Crookall, local commissioners Rodger Gimbert and Raymond Harmer, and dentist Leslie Hanson.
