Chance to gain outdoor leadership skills from Mobex experts

by isleofman.com 26th August 2011

EXPERTS at The Children's Centre are running a course for people who are interested in earning a qualification in outdoor leadership.

Members of the Mobex team, the outdoor education team at the centre, will start the course tomorrow for people interested in obtaining the Level 3 Award in Day Walk Leadership.

It is a nationally recognised qualification and is applicable to anyone who wants to lead hill walking trips for adults or children.

During the course participants will learn the skills required to navigate and lead through terrain similar to that found in the Manx hills and glens.

It does not cover overnight camps but it is possible to convert the award qualification to the Basic Expedition Leader Award at a later stage.

The course begins tomorrow (August 27) and sessions will be held on Wednesday evenings over a period of eight weeks. There will also be some Saturday sessions.

Once candidates have fulfilled the training criteria they will be required to complete a minimum of 15 hours leadership experience followed by an eight hour assessment.

The course costs £150. For more information contact Kieran Stoutt on 07624 338429 or e-mail kieranstoutt@thechildrenscentre.org.im.
