Police close road after motorbike and HGV collide

A MOTORBIKE rider is in hospital following a road traffic collision with a heavy goods vehicle yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

 

The collision, between the black and blue BMW R1200 motorcycle and a Colas yellow M.A.N heavy goods vehicle, happened on the main Douglas to Ballasalla Road near to Santon Railway Station.

 

The motorcycle was travelling towards Douglas and the Colas wagon was travelling in the opposite direction when the incident occurred at around 4.40pm.

 

Police closed the road for almost three hours while they conducted enquiries. The driver of the heavy goods vehicle was uninjured.

 

The occupants of a yellow MG ZR that was travelling towards Ballasalla at the time of the collision have been asked to come forward, as has anyone else who witnessed the collision.
