Guarded praise for outgoing politicians

by isleofman.com 24th August 2011

A general election candidate in East Douglas has acknowledged the work done by the outgoing administration, during what has been a difficult five years.

Broadcaster Paul Moulton says it hasn't necessarily done a bad job.

Mr Moulton, until recently the Isle of Man correspondent for ITV Granada, says he isn't knocking anyone, and the Isle of Man's biggest problem in recent times has been that 'we didn't know we were having it so good'.

However, given the loss of VAT revenue, the next government really needs to look at the scope of its services (listen to audio file below):

The other candidates in East Douglas so far are Douglas councillor Richard Kissack, teacher Geraldine O'Neill and outgoing MHKs Brenda Cannell and Chris Robertshaw.
