Exhausted Cav drops out of Vuelta

by isleofman.com 24th August 2011

Mark Cavendish is out of the Tour of Spain.

He abandoned the hilly fourth stage yesterday (Tuesday) about 40 kilometres from the finish, complaining of having no energy.

The air temperature was recorded as being 109 Fahrenheit.

The 'Manx Missile' has completed over 90 days of competitive cycling this year, more than anyone else in the peloton at the Tour of Spain.

His HTC Highroad teams say Cav is exhausted following the Tour de France and is looking to recuperate prior to the world championships next month.
