Paddy’s Fish of the Week – Whole Sardines

by isleofman.com 23rd August 2011

THIS week Paddy's has chosen whole sardines as the Fish of the Week.

All about sardines…

Sardines are small silvery fish that belong to a group of oily fish related to herrings. They are very healthy and are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, protein and vitamins B12 and D.

To cook sardines simply…

Sardines are particularly oily which makes them ideal for frying and grilling or stuffing and baking. Wash and dry and then cook as you like.

Why not try en papillote using seal and cook bags? Sardines also go especially well with a garlic and rosemary glaze or Cajun spices.

If you would like any more tips or advice on how to cook sardines visit Paddy's fish counter in Shoprite, Victoria Road in Douglas.

Until Sunday, August 28, whole sardines will be £2.60 per lb. There will also be a sampling session at the Paddy's counter this Saturday.
