Judiciary has new code of conduct

by isleofman.com 23rd August 2011

First Deemster David Doyle has launched a new code of conduct for members of the judiciary in the Isle of Man.

It covers several areas: judicial independence, impartiality, integrity, propriety, equality of treatment, competence and diligence.

Deemster Doyle hopes the publication of the code will 'assist in underlining to the community the high standards of conduct rightly expected from judges in this jurisdiction'.

He says it will also be a useful document for members of the Manx Judiciary in considering the high standards expected of them in their judicial and personal lives.

A copy of the code can be obtained from courts.im, the Isle of Man Courts of Justice website.
