Stem cell treatment for Port Erin man today

A local paraplegic man is due to undergo pioneering stem cell therapy in Germany today (Monday).

Chris Walmsley was left disabled and with brain damage when he was hit by a car five years ago.

The 33-year-old's family has since been fundraising for his ongoing treatment, and in the last four months collected more than ?27,000 for today's procedure.

Although there are no promises with the therapy, doctors hope it will impove his swallowing and relax his arms.

His mother, Carol, is accompanying him to the German clinic:
