Palace Cinema to be refurbished

by isleofman.com 21st August 2011

THE Palace Cinema in Douglas will close for two weeks next month while it is refurbished.

Both screening rooms will have new seating which is being brought in from a specialist seating company in Australia and new vinyl and carpet and will be fitted by Isle of Man flooring company Allan C Swales Ltd.

The cinema will be closed from Monday, September 5 to Sunday, September 18 while the work is carried out.

Sefton Group director of hotels and leisure Adrian Brockhouse said: "We have been aware for a while now that the seating, flooring and décor within the two theatres has been looking a little tired.

"This project will revitalise the cinema-going experience in both screen one and screen two.

"I'm sure movie fans will find that the new facilities enhance the whole cinema experience, particularly as it comes on the back of a significant investment by Sefton Group plc in 2010 which saw new digital projectors installed, offering an improved viewing experience and ability to show 3D movies.

"We are also looking at using the Palace Cinema for future opportunities in corporate and association conferences, meetings and seminars."
