Lower grade students face stiff competition

Manx students going through clearing for university places are finding there are some long waits this year.

The overall A-level pass rate was 97.8 per cent in the five secondary schools, the second best performance on record.

However, those who didn't achieve the grades they needed for their first choice university are facing stiff competition for places.

Schools improvement advisor at the Department of Education and Children Jan Gimbert says it can be a slow process:
