Ramsey: a place people 'pass through'

by isleofman.com 19th August 2011

A candidate for Ramsey in next month's general election says the town needs to sell itself more.

Civil servant John McDonough, aged 44, says the town is seen as a place that people pass through, and more life needs to be pumped into it.

If successful next month, he says he would put the needs of the people of Ramsey first, claiming the two outgoing MHKs, both of whom are senior ministers, have forgotten who put them into power (listen to audio file below):

Five candidates have so far declared their intention to contest the two seats in Ramsey.

Mr McDonough is up against Allan Bell and Anne Craine, who are seeking re-election, and fellow challengers Linda Bowers-Kasch and Leonard Singer.
