Former MHK and member of the armed services Dominic Delaney is supporting a call for guaranteed support and priority treatment for serving and retired members of the armed forces.
In an open letter to Tynwald members, Honorary Colonel Charles Wilson has urged the Island's politicians to create a military covenant which can be made into law.
United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron has said he will embody such a covenant in law and Colonel Wilson wants the arrangement to apply in the Isle of Man.
Ex-paratrooper Mr Delaney says when he first went into politics those who had served their country were automatically given preferences, but that attitude died out as World War II became ever more distant.
However, on Talking Heads today (Thursday), he told Stuart Peters more support should be given to men and women from the Island who have served their country:
