Candidate no longer focuses on local authority issues

by isleofman.com 18th August 2011

One of the three outgoing MHKs for Onchan believes he has made a successful transition from local to national politics.

David Quirk entered the Keys just under five years ago on his fourth attempt, after being a commissioner in Onchan for a number of years.

He says criticisms that he concentrated too much on local authority issues after becoming an MHK may have had some credence in the past, but he now has more experience (listen to audio file below):

With twelve days to go to nominations day, there are currently six candidates for the three seats in Onchan.

David Quirk is hoping to regain his seat, as are the other outgoing members, Adrian Earnshaw and Peter Karran.

They are being challenged by Zac Hall, June Kelly and Brian Stowell.

Polling is on Thursday, September 29.
