A GRAPHIC designer from the Isle of Man has helped create a new identity for a shopping centre in Leeds.
Marc Redhead from Port Erin has created a brand new logo for the Leeds Corn Exchange as part of an open design competition.
The shopping centre set the competition as part of a re-branding exercise and the winning logo is being used on the centre's bag for life, marketing material and flag.
Marc, who is 22, beat off competition from more than 150 other people. He said: "I was over the moon with the result and didn't expect it at all. It's an honour to have my work chosen to represent such a highly recognised establishment like the Corn Exchange.
"My design was focussed around the architecture of the building. I did a lot of research into the age and audience type who both visit and shop at the centre. From that point I used traditional typography, a minimal colour pallet (which was selected from swatches I took from inside the building) and a vector based illustration of the building's roof – which is one of its famed points."
A spokesperson for the Leeds Corn Exchange said: "The judges loved the simplicity of the design and the use of the buildings most recognisable feature - the roof. The standard was very high and we would like to thank everyone for their efforts."
Marc studied at Castle Rushen High School and the Isle of Man College before completing a BA Hons degree in Graphic Design at Leeds University. He is currently living in the city and has just completed a work placement at the design agency All Good.
