3rd for Black in Belgium

by isleofman.com 16th August 2011

Isle of Man Bank Sports Aid Recipient Tom Black has finished 3rd in the Vremde kermesse in Belgium.

Black, riding in the colours of his Belgium team Asfra Racing, rode strongly throughout the 98km race going clear with 5km remaining.

The Peleton, somewhat smaller than usual, still included some big names from well known teams.

Guy Smet, who took victory has over 10 kermesse wins this season.

Black said " It was a really open course, down small lanes with crosswinds which made the going tough, the Peleton was one line all day, everyone wants to win".

Approaching the last lap Black launched a move but two riders had already gone clear. Black powered away from the Peleton riding strongly to hang on for a well deserved third place.
