by isleofman.com 16th August 2011

A FILM about the Isle of Man TT Races has been shortlisted for five accolades in the Screen Marketing and Distribution Awards 2011.

TT3D: Closer to the Edge has been nominated in five categories including British Independent Film Campaign of the Year and Best Documentary Release of the Year.

The film, which was financed, produced and distributed by CinemaNX, is also up for Best Campaign of the Year for a Film in 3D, Premiere of the Year and Trailer of the Year.

In two of the categories, British Independent Film Campaign of the Year and Best Campaign of the Year for a Film in 3D, TT3D: Closer to the Edge will be up against The King's Speech which won seven awards at this year's BAFTAs.

The Screen Marketing and Distribution Awards, which are in their second year, reward the best projects from UK marketing and distribution organisations across the film industry.

The shortlisted films will be judged by a panel made up of a number of people within the industry including Timothy Richard, the chief executive officer of Vue Entertainment, Denise Parkinson, entertainment director at Yahoo! and Adrian Wooton, the chief executive of Film London and the British Film Commission. Chairing the panel is Stephen Moore the chief executive officer of MediCinema.

Steve Christian, the chairman of CinemaNX said: "This is great news for the film – it keeps the profile of the film out there and is perfect timing ahead of the DVD release on November 27.

"When people started to see TT3D we knew we had something special so the reaction to it was no real surprise. It is getting what it deserves.

"It's nice to be mentioned in the same sentence as The King's Speech but it's all about profile for the company, for the film and for the Island."

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony will take place at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel in London on September 27. Representatives from CinemaNX will be in attendance.
