'Packet report would have given election pointers'

The Office of Fair Trading's decision not to publish its report into Steam Packet fares has been branded 'astonishing' by a local passenger group.

The OFT says the study has become irrelevant, as it didn't cover the 'freight wars' saga with Mezeron, or the Packet's change of ownership.

But Travelwatch chairman Brendan O'Friel says his organisation had been looking to the report for answers to questions on some other important issues:
