OFT defends Packet report decision

by isleofman.com 15th August 2011

The chairman of the Office of Fair Trading has rebutted suggestions a report into the Steam Packet Company, which may never be published, has been a waste of taxpayer’s money.

Bill Henderson MHK says the report had only covered five years up to 2009, missing events such as the freight war with Mezeron and the company’s change of ownership.

The OFT had paid consultants to carry out the research before it announced on Friday it would drop the investigation.

Mr Henderson can’t confirm claims there may be legal action over the document.
