CASTLETOWN Cricket Club will start the new season with a new sponsor.

Celton Manx has announced it will sponsor the club which has three senior teams, four junior teams and a fledgling ladies team.

Stephen Eppleston, the chairman of Castletown Cricket Club, said: "The committee, members and players of Castletown are extremely pleased to have been successful in attracting a club sponsor of the magnitude of Celton Manx Limited.

"We are aware that the company is keen to support local sports and we see this as an endorsement of both our success on the pitch last year and the thriving youth set up within the club.

"We had several of our youth players performing at Island representative levels last year with Seb Aycock actually playing for the full Island team whilst still an under 15 player."

The club holds its practices and matches at King William's College. This season the club will enter a team into the Lancashire Cup and the Entrecasteaux Sevens tournament in the south of France.

Bill Mummery, executive director of Celton Manx, said: "We are delighted to become the main sponsor of the successful Castletown Cricket Clubs.

"We are dedicated to supporting local sporting clubs and initiatives and the Castletown Cricket Club shares our values of promoting sport to children and young people in our community. I am very much looking forward to seeing the team play and wish them the very best for a successful year."
