Site engineer describes abuse of workmen

Police have confirmed they will be monitoring roadworks following complaints from workmen, who say they were verbally, and physically, abused by motorists.

Officers are investigating two incidents in which Department of Infrastructure staff working on the roads were allegedly threatened by drivers.

The department is looking into the possibility of installing mobile CCTV to monitor traffic.

Stephen Crellin is site engineer at the current works at Victoria Road in Castletown.

He says the abuse there started almost as soon as work began:
