A COMPETITOR in the Isle of Man half marathon on Sunday will be wearing a RNLI crew outfit to raise money for the lifeboat charity.
Colin Watterson, a former Port Erin volunteer crew member and former full time lifeboat employee, will be competing to raise funds and publicity for the charity.
Port Erin Lifeboat press officer Graham Staples said: "As a charity we rely entirely on donations to function.
"We would not be able to provide the service we do without the public's generosity.
"Events such as this allow public shows of support such as Colin's to bring us to people's attention in a different and eye catching manner. All of us at the station and at RNLI wish him well and hope he has a successful day."
Colin was forced to leave the employment of the RNLI after sustaining an injury training for a similar event two years ago and has pushed himself incredibly hard during that period in order to be able to even attempt this half marathon.
Colin himself says that after the injury he set himself a 'new challenge' to reach the point he is at today.
Colin also aims to take part in the Ramsey Bakery End to End walk on September 25 where he will be accompanied by current Port Erin RNLI crew member Rob Annett and they will be aiming to raise money for Port Erin RNLI.
