by isleofman.com 10th August 2011

POLICE have issued advice about travelling to this weekend's Royal Manx Agricultural Show.

The annual event will take place on Friday (August 12) and Saturday (August 13) at Knockaloe for the first time.

Police said the main route to and from the show ground fror traffic from the north and east of the Island is via Patrick Road in St John's.

Northern and eastern traffic should access this via Ballacraine and the Hope Crossroads where there will be diversion signs in place.

People travelling to the show from the South are being advised to go via the Round Table and Dalby, avoiding Foxdale.

There will be a dedicated bus service on Saturday serving the show running from the Tynwald Inn at St John's to Knockaloe and then Peel on a rotational route roughly every half hour from 10.10am, with the last bus due to leave the showground at 5.55pm.

Full details of this service are available via the bus information line on 662545.

The main public car park for the event is in a field to the Glen Maye (southern side) of Patrick village.

Only disabled and reserved parking is via the main entrance to Knockaloe Drive.

Signage will be in place and the show ground entrance will be accessed directly on foot through the car parking fields.

Police will be on duty to manage traffic flow on both days at car park entrances and key junctions and it is hoped that any delays will be minimal.

Members of the public not attending the show are advised, where possible, to avoid the Knockaloe area.
