FIREFIGHTERS were faced with flames 15 feet high when they were called to a fire in Linden Gardens, Douglas, on Tuesday.
Two fire appliances from Douglas Fire Station were called to the fire in a large shed and van at 2.45pm.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and two high pressure hose lines to tackle the fire along with thermal imaging equipment to see through the smoke.
Station Officer Nigel Fraser said: "The fire destroyed a large garden shed and caused severe fire damage to the van and another shed close by.
"The fire was brought under control and a gas cylinder which was found in the rear of the van had to be cooled as it had been involved in the fire.
"Fire crews remained in attendance to clear debris and investigate the cause of the fire."
No-one was hurt as a result of the fire and the cause is unknown.
Station Officer Fraser added: "The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service urge that occupiers ensure that their garden sheds are secure when not in use and that no unwanted gas cylinders or large amounts of fuel are stored in garden sheds."
Any unwanted gas cylinders may be collected by Manx Gas by ringing 644449.
