Liverpool disorder: no parallels with 1981

A well known Radio Merseyside presenter has told Manx Radio there is no sympathy for rioters in Liverpool.

Roger Phillips, who hosts a highly regarded phone-in show on the BBC station, has been hearing many stories about the violent disorder on the city's streets.

The riots are being compared to the huge disturbances which shook Toxteth for nine days in 1981, but he says there are no parallels between the two:
