Criminals' cash to pay for CCTV?

Douglas Borough Council is planning to put more CCTV cameras around the capital, and it wants the project to be part-funded by money recovered from convicted criminals, in the Department of Home Affairs' 'Seized Assets Fund'.

The council says CCTV acts as a major deterrent to vandals, gives the public reassurance and can be used in court cases as evidence.
