'Voters don't like political grabbers!'

A former member of the House of Keys believes it could be counter-productive for would-be MHKs to announce their intention to run for chief minister before a general election.

Research released last week suggests more than 90 per cent of the Manx public believe voters should know which candidates are interested in the 'top job' before they go to the polls.

However, on Mandate today (Monday) political commentator Charles Cain told John Moss that could prove to be a negative step:
