DERELICT and ruined buildings have provided the inspiration for a new exhibition at the Sayle Gallery.
Mann, Abandoned, by Sayle Gallery artist in residence Hazel Walsh, will be on display from August 12 to September 4.
The viewer will be able to experience the desolation of some of the Island's forgotten homes and industrial buildings through visually intriguing and evocative photographs.
Hazel has also created mixed media works using a variety of methods and materials including image transfer techniques.
Viewers are also invited to share Hazel's explorative experiences and enter into a derelict room within the gallery, equipped with only a head torch to illuminate the gloomy interior.
Audiences will also be able to buy a copy of the book Mann, Abandoned which will be launched at the exhibition preview and showcases a selection of Hazel's best photographs from the project.
There is also a website for the exhibition www.mannabandoned.co.uk
The project has been supported by the Isle of Man Arts Council.
Hazel studied a BA (Hon) in Professional Photographic Imaging at Reading College and then completed a part time MA in Art, Design and Media at Portsmouth University.
Since returning to the Island Hazel has been teaching photography part time at the Isle of Man College.
In the future she hopes to study towards a PHD. She is a keen member of the Isle of Man Photographic Society and has recently exhibited work at The Crypt Gallery and Candid Arts Trust in London.
