THE 135th anniversary of the Douglas horse tram service was celebrated in style this afternoon (Sunday).

People of all ages gathered at the Strathallan Terminus to see a cavalcade of trams.

There was also an exhibition inside the Strathallan Suite and children were given commemorative balloons.

The Mayor of Douglas Ritchie McNicholl was in attendance to mark the occasion and he travelled on the Okells branded tram which led the parade.

The trams, which are owned and operated by Douglas Borough Council, run throughout the summer months.

The service was started in 1876 by Thomas Lightfoot.
