MHK calls for action over store

by isleofman.com 6th August 2011

An MHK is calling for the Department of Social Care to act following the closure of the only shop in Jurby.

Michael member David Cannan says the department, which owns the lease and freehold of Jurby General Stores, should install a temporary shop for the residents - the nearest are currently in Andreas and Sulby.

The department says it's aware of the problem and is looking for someone who can provide a long-term retail facility - and provide value for money for the Isle of Man Government.
