Chris Evans and John Bishop reminisce about Island visit

by isleofman.com 5th August 2011

A MEMORABLE night in the Isle of Man was a topic of conversation for BBC Radio Two presenter Chris Evans and comedian John Bishop this morning.

John was a guest on Chris' show and they discussed the time they watched a performance by comedian Johnny Vegas at the former Venue nightclub in Douglas in 2004.

In fact John, before he became a household name and a full time comedian, was the support act.

Chris was in the audience along with Hollywood stars John Malkovich and Samantha Morton.

The latter two were in the Island to film The Libertine along with Johnny Vegas and Johnny Depp.

Johnny Vegas had agreed to do the comedy show for charity and it turned into a particularly wild performance due to his antics.

While his Hollywood co-stars were there, Johnny Depp did not attend the performance.

John Bishop has since become a big star in the world of comedy and has returned to the Island to perform at the Gaiety Theatre and Villa Marina in Douglas.
