Temporary speed limit in place for Mannifest

by isleofman.com 5th August 2011

MOTORISTS are being asked to take extra care this weekend as a temporary speed limit has been put in place for the Mannifest music festival at Glen Lough, Union Mills.

Inspector Will Campbell said: "There is a new public entrance for the festival this year situated on the Ballahutchin about 200 yards on the Douglas side of the Main Glen Lough site.

"The whole of the Ballahutchin will be 30mph for the weekend for road safety purposes.

"Speed enforcement will be conducted by members of the Road Policing Unit.

"Please take extra care and be prepared for vehicles entering or exiting the new entrance.

"Please bear in mind there will be an increase in pedestrians on, or crossing, the Ballahutchin particularly at the end of the evenings.

"There is also a clearway in force with no parking allowed on the main road.

"Police officers will be in attendance at the festival again this year having worked closely with the event organisers and other agencies.

"The organisers have worked tirelessly to make the event  family friendly. Last year was a great success in terms of the behaviour of the festival goers with no arrests having to be made.

"The organisers have a strict no drugs policy which we will be enforcing with drug detection dogs."
