Safety advice for motorhome owners

by isleofman.com 5th August 2011

The Fire and Rescue Service is offering advice on how to keep motorhomes safe, after a blaze, involving a fridge-freezer unit, in one of them.

A crew from Douglas was sent to Belgravia Road in Onchan, when a vehicle caught fire, and nearby residents heard a loud bang.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus dealt with 'a well established blaze' and made the vehicle safe by isolating gas and electrical supplies.

The fire was confined to the rear of the motorhome, but the vehicle was badly damaged and towed away by police officers.

There were no injuries.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, and motorhome owners can ring the Community Safety Department on 647300 for advice on keeping them safe.
